Sort of yes, sort of no. Although I've played WoW, I'm not that familiar with the Paladin in particular, so don't quote me, but...
In WoW a Paladin is sort of a cross between a Warrior and a Healer. They can tank or melee fight and do some healing or buffing. Their weapons are swords, axes, and maces. A Paragon also can do damage and buff the party members, but they don't (normally) tank or get into melee range (when using a Spear). |

Paragons support and buff it's allies through a lot of things, healing is the lesser of them. Protection, added armor on the party, extending enchantments and stances, speeds boosts, etc etc etc. Basically it does everything you can think of. And doesn't use melees. And doesn't use much energy either, it uses the same adrenaline mechanism the warrior does. On offense, it uses ranged attacks and focuses heavily on inflicting conditions instead of straight-out heavy damage.
So no, it's not like the paladin. |

The Paragon is nothing like a Paladin. Sure they have heals and high armor like a Warrior, but otherwise, they are different. Paragons use shouts and chants to buff party wide while a Paladin uses blessings for specific classes. While a blessing lasts 30 minutes, a shout or chant lasts for a few seconds, or until an action is taken.
The healing a Paragon provides isn't as great as a Paladin either. Paladins can heal as good (if not better) than a Priest, where is a Paragon is not considered a main healer like a Paladin is. Then there is weapons of course. Paladins wield Two-Handed, to One-Handed w/ Shield. Paragons can use a Shield, but they use Spears. You won't find Retribution Paragons or tanking Paragons either like you do with Paladins. Paragons are mainly party wide support, instead of healers or main damage dealers. |

I suppose the comparison is like if I compare WoW to Sunday morning cartoons. Are they the same? Not really. But people would see some similarities.

Paladin = Paragon?
As a former Paladin I can safely say that this is incorrect. |

Not comparable to any classes in WoW, the only similarities would be their shouts and Warrior's battle/commanding shout.
